You should read Taekwondotimes! My grandmaster started that magazine!

I really only listen to Christian music. My favorite bands are Casting Crowns, David Crowder, Seven Places, Starfield, and Stellar Kart.

I have a couple trophies in sparring and forms.

Taekwondo, Hapkiye, church, guitar

I train under Grandmaster Chung Eun Kim.

I'm in college. I wanted to study at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and major in martial arts, but my parents wouldn't let me. Now I'm at a different college that shall remain nameless, and I'm studying Spanish, management, and religion. I'm serious about my faith in God, and I sometimes play my guitar in church (when I'm not training!).

I've always been fascinated by the martial arts, but being a girl, I felt that my fascination was unacceptable, so I didn't vocalize my interest in the martial arts until about 2 years ago. My best guy friend told me that he was going to check out the local TKD school, and he wanted me to go with him, so I happily went and we ended up signing up for 3 months of lessons! I remember walking out of the dojang wearing the top part of my dobok tied with my new white belt. It was a memorable experience. Today I'm pretty much obsessed with TKD - ask anyone who knows me!

Thanks for the encouragement with the degree.  I still have 7 semesters, but my first semester has gone smoothly with academics, so it's looking good.  Do you work in law enforcement now?

Yes, I'm a jailer at a county jail.  It's an interesting job and I've been doing it for 16 1/2 years now.

A slipped disk does sound painful.  You must really love taekwondo to come back to your training after an injury like that.  That's some indomitable spirit!  How did you hurt your back?

I did it at work.  I moved a very small TV and felt pain run down my rear end.  I thought my back just needed an adjustment, but I was wrong.  I do love Tae Kwon Do even though it's taking me a while to test each time (I have problems with breaking which we're overcoming).  I think it's great that you're getting a degree.  That is not easy to achieve (I know, I have a Masters of Arts in Law Enforcement from Western Illinois University).  Just keep at it and you will earn your degree.

Yes, I'm certain I remember you!  It's good to be in contact with you again!  I don't know if I can make it to the next tournament, though.  I'm in college now, so I'd have to come back to town AND I'd have to compete with the black belts since I'm a temporary black belt now!  Yikes!!  If I can come back I'll come, even if just to watch.  Well, maybe I could compete...  Okay, now I want to go!  Now then, how's your week going?  It's the week before finals here at college, so I'm kinda busy.  I get to go on Christmas break next Tuesday!!

I'm planning on competing next year!  I'm still a brown belt (but I moved up from temporary 2nd brown to 2nd brown).  I plan on testing next year, too.  I had a low back injury (slipped disc) on June 28 and it took me until September before I could get back to training.  It was very painful.

It sounds like you're very busy with college.  Kudos to you for furthering your education and congrats on becoming a temporary black belt.  That's awesome!

Actually, I think I competed with you!  I'm pretty sure I remember you.  I didn't place in board breaking, but I got first place in forms and sparring.

I think I competed against you too!  It's nice to meet again.

I'm a temporary black belt now. I'll probably test for my first dan in August. My first goal is to increase my power. Then I also want to work on perfecting my technique and increasing flexibility. What are your goals?

5th dan ha ha ha and 3rd dan WTF
