I began the study of Taekwondo when I was about ten. I attended a class at the local recreational department and then went to Jhoon Rhee for about a year. In 1987, I studied taekwondo at Jae Kim's Karate for about a year. By this time, I was an avid sport fencer and had taken up an interest in European broadsword styles. Then, I got married and had kids. I continued to practice my taekwondo, fencing and broadsword at home, but it was not the same.
By 2002, I had become a single dad with custody of my two sons. Both had expressed an interest in martial arts, so we signed up for kumdo lessons at Korean Martial Arts, Gaithersburg in 2005. Both my sons, and myself achieved our first dan rank, though my youngest stopped to take up sport fencing. My eldest and I have continued, and last February, I took up Taekwondo again. This time, though, I won't be stopping.
Since then, I have achieved my second dan in Kumdo, my blue belt in taekwondo and my son took up taekwondo in July 2007. He and I have taken up Hapkido in March, 08.
Aside from posting here, I am also a team leader on Kingdomfighter.com, a kumdo forum, since 2007.

I am a martial artist, practicing Kum-Do (yidan), Fencing, Tae-Kwon-Do, Hapkido, and European broadsword styles. I am a single parent in a relationship, raising two aspiring martial artists. My sons look forward to seeing their own children (when they have them someday) continue the tradition.
